Welcome to the Altrusa Club of Troy Website!

Altrusa International, Inc. of Troy, Ohio is a service club that is committed to community service, literacy and fellowship for the benefit of the community and its members. We are a not-for-profit organization under code section 501(C)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service. Contributions to the club are tax deductible. Our major service projects include:

Corporate Spelling Bee-The Corporate Spelling Bee is an annual fund-raising event within the community. Area businesses compete in a fun-filled atmosphere for bragging rights. Attendance fees and a silent auction augment corporate and individual sponsorships. Proceeds are used to support literacy programs in the area.

Mobile Meals (started in 1973)-Mobile Meals is the Troy Altrusa Club’s longest ongoing service project, begun in 1973. Mobile Meals is now recognized as a United Fund Agency and is managed by Altrusa volunteers. The program supplies hot meals to homebound Troy residents every Monday through Friday, including holidays. Deliveries are made by paid drivers.

School Reading Programs-Altrusa International Inc. of Troy works to provide volunteers to teachers in the Troy School system to assist with reading programs. Once connected, the teachers and volunteers work together to address the needs of students requiring additional reading attention. Every child participating in the program receives a new book from the club at the end of each school year. Proceeds of the Corporate Spelling Bee fund this project.

Literacy Links-Literacy Links, sponsored by Altrusa International Inc. of Troy, is a referral program that connects people to literacy services. Access to local literacy providers is provided on the web at www.literacylinksonline.org
